We are always trying to find inexpensive, fun family activities. Austin and I both work a lot so we might only get one day of the weekend to do something great with AJ. Enter Drumlin Farm part of Mass Audubon in Lincoln, MA. A few months back the farm ran a deal on LivingSocial that was valid for 1 adult and 1 child for $6 (regularly $12). What a great deal – an day of entertainment for less than $10!
We headed to the farm (about a 45 min drive for us) and found it very well marked and easy to park. Once you check-in and purchase your tickets, you get a map of the property and highlights of the activities. The employee mentioned the baby sheep just born a few days ago as something neat to check out. The trails are clearly marked and it’s very easy to find your way around.
We headed to see the sheep first – very cute! Next we stopped at bird hill and then made our way to the farm loop to see the chickens, pigs, and fruits and vegetables. We saw everything in about 2 hours. Plenty of things for the kids to see and do, lots of room to run around, all in all a really fun place! A note for the future – they also have a party room for birthday celebrations!

I had the pleasure of attending the Boston Bites Back fundraiser recently at Fenway Park. The fundraiser for the One Fund was hosted by Ming Tsai and Ken Oringer, Fenway, Aramark and more. The event was DELICIOUS! I wasn’t quite sure what to expect but I basically ate my way through the concourse at Fenway. Each traditional food stand was transformed into a mini-sampling mecca. Every restaurant in Boston seemed to be there. My colleagues and I tried buffalo popcorn shrimp, several types of aracini’s, fried artichokes, fried green tomatoes, grilled cheese, the list goes on and on and I haven’t even gotten to the desserts. We didn’t make it to Flour Bakery & Cafe before they ran out but they looked good! We did get cupcakes from Kickass Cupcakes and they were scrumptious!
One of the coolest parts of the night was getting to walk the warning track. I’ve done many a fundraiser at Fenway and they don’t just let anyone on that pristine field. While we didn’t get to touch the grass, we did get to sit in the dugout and touch the green monster. PRETTY COOL. All in all, it was a great event. Haven’t seen any numbers on how much money was raised, but I hope it was a lot.
